Henan University of Science & Technology (HAUST) is located in Luoyang - a historically and culturally famous city, the capital of 13 dynasties in Chinese history, which has 4 campuses occupying an area of over 500 ha, and being as one of 3 key constructing universities supported by Henan government. Over 50 years’ development, HAUST has formed a scientific education system for undergraduate and postgraduate program, covering 10 major disciplines including natural science, engineering, medical science, agronomy, economics, law, literature, management, history and pedagogy.
Management School was authorized by HAUST to establish an education center for MBA program. In Management School, there are 6 undergraduate majors run by the department of Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism Management, Information Management, E-commerce, Accounting, and Career Guidance & Entrepreneurship Education, as well as 5 Academic Master Programs including Management Science & Engineering, Corporate Management, Technical Economics & Management, Tourism Management, and 3 Professional Master Programs including MBA, Project Management and Agricultural Informatization.
There is a faculty of more than 100 staffs in Management School, and 40 staffs as professors, associate professors and doctors devoted in the MBA education, also 10 more adjunct professors hired from famous universities and large groups for the MBA program. For the rise of central China, we will take a variety of measures such as evaluating the courses structure, enhancing the practical skills, improving management innovation, reinforcing career guidance, developing international collaboration to train the management and operation talents.
HAUST has a good condition for MBA education. Luoyang is famous on the base of advanced manufacture industry, and HAUST is the training base for cadres from advanced manufacture industry appointed by Henan government. At present, there are 4 special labs in HAUST such as modern logistic technology lab, logistic simulation lab, ERP lab and sandbox simulation lab. Large amount of teaching and management experiences has been accumulated through ERP training program for the high-level managers from some well-known organizations, for example, YTO, CITIC HIC, ZYS, AVIC, LYC, Luomu Group, etc.
Following by the rise of private economy in the central China and the development of advanced manufacturing base in Luoyang, some small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are growing up. HAUST has a closed relationship with dozens of SMEs depending on the long-term research of SME management. Luoyang has a huge potential for the tourism industry development relying on its unique tourism resources. HAUST is one of the earliest universities forming the major of tourism management, and is also qualified for the master degree of tourism management, has a long-term relationship with the local tourism companies and cultural industry, which provides strong support for MBA practice.
HAUST is insisting on developing its MBA program via exploiting its special resources. Based on the equipment manufacturing industry, tourism industry, and SME management, HAUST could also explore other manager training programs according to the demand of society, for example, accounting and finance, taxation and auditing, human resource, business trade and marketing, modern logistics, etc..
For the MBA education, HAUST emphasis the teaching methods through interactive case study and practical training, along with the classical international cases, encourages the lecturers exploring and using local cases. Generally, Practice teaching will take 3 months at least. HAUST will arrange different professional practice according to the actual condition of each student, and lead them to compile management case based on their research results of typical companies, or restructure management scheme and implementing plan based on their jobs. HAUST offers 2 pathways of MBA studying: full-time MBA and part-time MBA.
